Terms for renting a carEven though you have reached the age of 18, some of our car rental agencies require a minimum age of 22 years and a two-years-old driver’s license. Nevertheless, some of our partners make exceptions upon our request. A valid credit card is also required to rent a vehicle. Please note: the minimum duration for a rental car is 24 hours.International driver licenseThe car rental agency - and in most cases even the police - accept a national driving license. However, some insurance do not pay in the event of damage or accident. For actuarial reasons, we therefore recommend to carry the international driving license.LocationsThe rental cars can be hired at the following locations:
Please note that due to partly bad road conditions (unpaved roads), higher prices are charged in Patagonia (Coyhaique, Puerto Natales and Punta Arenas) than in the rest of Chile! For those rentals starting in a location with an airport, a charge will be applied. Some operators offer drop offs at different locations troughout the country. For this service you have to pay an extra fee. One-way-PremiumIf you don’t return the car at the location where you hired it, an additional One-way-Premium will be charged. The amount depends on the distance and the car model. Please contact us for more information about pick-up and drop-off conditions and prices. Drop offs outside Chilean territory are not allowed.Border crossing to ArgentinaYou can leave to Argentina without any problems. However, we would like to advise you that additional costs for comprehensive collision insurance and auto liability insurance, which are valid in Argentina, as well as notary permission will be charged. These costs amount to approximately 130 USD (depending on the car rental agency and the rental period). Please inform us in advance – if possible at the day of your reservation – if you are planning to travel to Argentina. To receive all necessary documents together with the rental car, you must inform us at least two weeks in advance.
Due to actuarial reasons, border crossings to Peru and Bolivia are not permitted.

The current exchange rate is the basis for our calculation and we update it every sixth months.Availability and bookingUpon request for an estimation of costs and a concrete intention to rent a camper, we will check its availability for the rental term you ask for and we will then send you an offer. Please be aware of the fact that the requested car / camper can only be reserved bindingly in your name after a successful booking with Chile Inside.In the case of a desired cancellation, we can only refund 75% of the transaction up to 14 days of the rental date. Within 14 days of the rental period, the refund is 25%. When you book the rental car, you will be charged the full amount for the reserved period of use. You can transfer the money to our German clearing account.
